CLIC Applauds President Obama’s Support for Local Net Choice

Today, President Obama will announce steps he will discuss in the State of the Union to help more Americans, in more communities around the country, get access to fast and affordable broadband.

The hundreds of communities, companies, and private citizens that make up the Coalition for Local Internet Choice (CLIC) applaud the President’s announcement that he will formally support the rights of communities to choose the broadband that is right for them. Communities have an interest in promoting broadband deployments to stimulate economic growth, spur job creation and boost their residents’ capabilities in education, health care, economic opportunity, energy, government performance, civic engagement and public safety. The broad membership of CLIC is dedicated to removing restrictions to broadband deployment and encouraging competition and local choice — and we look forward to working with the President on this issue.
